Open Educational Materials of the sustainability-focused Project-Based Learning (PBL) experience implemented in the Bachelor’s Degree in Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, as part of the Projects in Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Course, at ULE.
The challenge provided students with real-world climate data from the CMIP6 climate models and ERA5 reanalysis datasets to explore sustainability-related problems through data engineering and artificial intelligence. The objective was to apply the full data engineering lifecycle -from data ingestion and cleaning to analysis and modelling- to identify climate anomalies, classify bioclimatic zones using unsupervised machine learning, and assess uncertainty in future climate projections.
