🎉We are delighted to announce that ENVIHEI has been awarded the First Compostela Sustainable Award 2026 by the General Council of the Compostela Group of Universities, in recognition of its quality and innovation in the implementation of sustainable measures within teaching-learning practices at higher education institutions.
✨ ENVIHEI was selected as the winning initiative from nine international proposals, receiving the highest number of votes from participants during the ‘Compostela Connection on Sustainability’ session, held as part of the XXXII General Assembly of the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU). The CGU is an international network bringing together 75 members and collaborators from 30 countries across Europe, America and Asia. Through the Compostela Sustainable Award, the network aims to highlight university initiatives that promote innovation and contribute to sustainable development within higher education and society.

🎥 As part of the award application, we had the opportunity to present ENVIHEI and its approach to sustainability education through a dedicated video, showcasing the project’s objectives, activities and impact. Watch the video here.

🌱 This recognition highlights ENVIHEI’s contribution to innovation and to the consolidation of sustainable practices in higher education, particularly through student-centered learning approaches. Throughout the project, ENVIHEI has worked to promote a more transformative approach to sustainability education, supporting higher education teachers and students in exploring how Project- and Problem-Based Learning, interdisciplinary approaches and real-world sustainability challenges can foster the competences needed for the green transition.

🌍 The award also reflects the international and practical dimension of ENVIHEI. Across the five participating universities, the project has supported changes in teaching practices and enabled students to engage with real sustainability challenges linked to areas such as renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable mobility, climate resilience and industrial sustainability.
🎓 The Compostela Sustainable Award 2026 represents an important international recognition of the work carried out by the ENVIHEI project. It reinforces our commitment to empowering education and engineering a sustainable future, while highlighting the potential of student-centered learning to contribute to meaningful change in higher education.
