π As part of the ENVIHEI pilot implementation, 53 Bachelorβs students in Business Analytics at the Silesian University of Technology (SUT) explored real-world sustainability challenges through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the Data Visualization course. The activities were carried out over 7 weeks between April and June 2026.

π Using Tableau and official Eurostat data, students worked in small teams to investigate sustainability challenges across economic, social, or environmental dimensions. They formulated research questions, identified relevant indicators, and developed interactive dashboards.

π‘ The activity combined technical training with independent research and teamwork. After completing guided Tableau exercises, students analysed datasets, created data stories, and presented and defended their findings.

π The projects addressed a wide range of sustainability topics, including the implementation of the SDGs, economic growth and quality of life, education and womenβs position in the labour market, the green transition and environmental degradation, the circular economy, health and development, food security and marine protection, energy transition and energy poverty, tourism and local communities, and the environmental attractiveness of countries as places to live.
π The implementation also showed the importance of supporting students in turning broad sustainability topics into focused research questions and selecting appropriate indicators. The final interactive dashboards and analytical narratives demonstrated how data visualization can support evidence-based exploration of complex sustainability challenges.
