🇪🇺 On 6 May 2026, the ENVIHEI project organised a multiplier event to celebrate Europe Day with the activity “Roots of Values, Seeds of Sustainability” in collaboration with different stakeholders. The event brought together 80 participants from the university community and local entities at the Hall of the Faculty of Veterinary, Campus de Vegazana, University of León.
🎉 The initiative formed part of the official programme for Europe Week 2026, shared by the Europe Direct León Centre, Eurodesk, the “León Joven” Youth Information Centre of León City Council, and the Erasmus+ network of the University of León, in collaboration with Equipo Europa, AEGEE, EU Career Ambassador, and the ENVIHEI project.
🌍 In a particularly symbolic year marking the 40th anniversary of Spain’s accession to the European Union, the ENVIHEI event invited students, academic staff, university personnel, and representatives from local and institutional stakeholders to reflect on the connection between the core values of the European Union -human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights- and environmental sustainability.
🤝 Through creative challenges and collaborative dynamics designed by the ENVIHEI team, participants explored how European values can be linked to the development of green competences included in the European GreenComp framework, which ENVIHEI integrates into higher education teaching and learning practices.
💬 The event provided an interactive and participatory space that encouraged dialogue, active citizenship, and collective reflection on the environmental and social challenges currently faced by Europe. The high level of participation highlighted the growing interest of the university community in sustainability, European cooperation, and innovative educational approaches.
🌱 With this initiative, ENVIHEI continues reinforcing its mission to promote sustainability in higher education institutions, foster green competences, and strengthen common European values through student-centred learning methodologies.
