We are happy to share that the in-person phase of the ENVIHEI Winter School 2026 has been successfully held at Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria) from 23 to 28 February 2026! 🎉
During this international week, students and lecturers from ENVIHEI partner universities came together to collaborate, learn, and exchange ideas while working on environmental sustainability challenges through the project-based learning (PBL) approach promoted by the ENVIHEI project. 🌱
The Winter School officially opened with a welcome session led by Prof. Dr. Thomas Prohaska, Vice Rector for Teaching, Digitalization and International Affairs at Montanuniversität Leoben, who greeted participants and highlighted the importance of collaborative and sustainability-focused learning in higher education.
Right after the opening, participants took part in two team-building activities designed to help students and lecturers get to know each other, strengthen communication, and build trust within their international teams. 🤝 These activities set the stage for an intensive and productive week of teamwork.

At the end of the week, teams presented the outcomes of their work during the Final Presentations Session, followed by the closing session and award ceremony, also led by Prof. Dr. Thomas Prohaska. 🏆
The winning project was developed by Team 4, which worked on the challenge: “Develop a bicycle design and construction project that incorporates environmental sustainability criteria.” 🚲🌍
The team was supervised by Gabriel Medina Martínez (ULE) and mentored by Jorge Peláez Blanco (ULE) and Magdalena Palacz (SUT). The student team included Magdalena Jureczko (SUT), Marcel Martynus (SUT), Guillermo Alba Buitrón (ULE), and Alberto España Carette (ULE).
👏 Congratulations to all participants for their excellent work and commitment throughout the Winter School!
📸 More information, photos, and insights about the projects developed during the Winter School will be shared soon. Stay tuned!
