Aida Guerra serves as the vice-director of the Aalborg Centre for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Engineering Science and Sustainability under UNESCO, and holds a in Engineering and Science Education for Sustainable Development, and problem-based learning. Aida Guerra research focuses on integrating sustainability into engineering education and enhancing academic staff professional development through innovative pedagogical approaches. Her work emphasizes Problem-Based and Project-Organized Learning (PBL), curriculum development, and fostering student agency for sustainability. She has contributed significantly to the fields of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and professional learning, publishing numerous articles and presenting at international conferences. Dan Jiang
Postdoctoral researcher in engineering education
Dan Jiang is affiliated to the UNESCO Center for Problem-Based Learning in Engineering Science and Sustainability at Aalborg University in Denmark. Her research focuses on intercultural PBL context in engineering education, with a special focus on students’ adaptability and learner agency development. Meanwhile, she explores multiple topics such as students’ agency and competences for sustainability, PBL educators’ profesional learning and pedagogical development, and middle academic leadership.

Lise Janssens

Lise is affiliated to the Centre of Environmental Sciences and the School of Educational studies of UHasselt and to the Centre of Sustainability Studies at Ghent University as a postdoctoral researcher. Her PhD entitled ‘Transformative learning for sustainability in business economics education: barriers and enablers’ was the start of her academic career. She is passionated by education for sustainable development and her research interests are related to transformative learning for sustainability and transdisciplinary co-creation of educational commons to support ESD and education for sustainable development in general. As a postdoctoral researcher, she is involved in different (applied) research projects.
Alex Mifsud
Assistant Professor in Sustainability and Leadership
PhD in Education for Sustainable Development. Deputy Programme Leader: Master in Global Sustainable Business Management, Northumbria University Amsterdam; and Research Fellow at the School of Educational Studies, UHasselt. Her expertise lies in ESD, where she has lectured, supervised student research, and developed ESD courses for diverse audiences. She designed and delivered Carbon Literacy Training courses to university staff and students internationally. Research interests focus on the application of ESD frameworks in curriculum design and to bring about employee engagement and transformational change within organisations.
