On June 23, representatives from three partner institutions, Montanuniversität Leoben, Silesian University of Technology, and the University of León met in Leoben for a productive in-person meeting. This gathering marked an important step forward in the ENVIHEI project as partners advanced planning for the in-person phase of the ENVIHEI Winter School, scheduled to take place in 23-28 February 2026.
Hosted by Montanuniversität Leoben, the meeting allowed partners to align ideas, visit the selected facilities, and finalize key logistics for the event. Participants toured the campus to review spaces for plenary sessions, group work, registration, and collaborative activities, ensuring that all settings would be accessible and conducive to interactive, student-centered learning.
The team also discussed the pedagogical structure of the Winter School, group composition, and the involvement of supervisors, mentors, and invited experts. Topics such as event sustainability, schedule, institutional support, financial planning, and communications were reviewed to guarantee successful implementation.
The online phase of the Winter School will officially begin in October with active teaching-learning training sessions that will include all supervisors and mentors. From mid July until the end September, the recruitment of students will be launched, giving way to the formation of interdisciplinary and international teams that will work on real sustainability challenges under a PBL framework.
As ENVIHEI continues to grow, this in-person meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to fostering transformative education and developing meaningful learning opportunities that empower HEI teachers and students with green competences.
